Cape Town is a treasure trove of historic sites, cafes and diverse cuisines. It also has a lively nightlife and small surf suburbs that remind me every day why Cape Town is my home away form home. There is so much to do in Cape Town, from wine tasting to helicopter tours to swimming with penguins.

The summer weather in Cape Town is usually from November to February.

Cape Town’s summer months are a great time to visit. There’s so much to do and see that you won’t want to go inside.

Lion’s Head

Get up on the Lion’s Head

Lion’s Head is a popular hike in Cape Town. The summit offers stunning views of the city bowl and Twelve Apostles as well as Table Mountain and the ocean below.

You can hike up during sunrise, sunset, or the full moon.

Table Mountain

Go up Table Mountain

You don’t have to make the four-hour climb up Table Mountain. Instead, you can take the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway. This is a great spot to see the sunset, and it’s much cheaper to go in the afternoon than the morning. From 8am to 1pm, the entrance fee is R290.00. It drops to R275.00 between 1pm and 8.30pm.

Cape Town isn’t afraid to try new things when it comes down to food. There are many weekend markets where you can find fresh fruits and vegetables, organic dairy products and sandwiches, as well as desserts and other food options.

Personal favorites of mine are the Old Biscuit Mill, and Oranjezicht-City Farm Market.

Enjoy a Day at Muizenberg Beach

“Muizies”, as the locals refer to it, is a packed beachfront that’s the ideal place to spend a hot day in Cape Town. You can go swimming, relax on the shore or learn to surf from one of the many schools.

A row of gorgeous, Instagram-worthy, rainbow-colored beach homes can also be found!

Street Art Tour in Woodstock

Woodstock was originally a semi-industrial and seaside area. It has been transformed into a trendy, creative neighborhood. The transformation of an area once plagued by crime has seen it become a vibrant neighborhood with street art playing an important role.

Take a walking tour of the neighborhood to learn more about the artists and the meaning behind every artwork.

Visit the Bo-Kaap, the colorful place to be!

Bo-Kaap is a neighborhood that dates back to 1760s, when many rental houses were constructed and leased to slaves. The slaves were free to purchase the properties after the end of slavery. They also painted the houses bright colors as a celebration of their freedom.

You can visit the Bo-Kaap neighborhood to learn more about the history and enjoy Cape Malay cuisine.
