This "model village" was built in around 1830 to provide good quality accommodation for some of the workers at the new Ironworks in Rhymney. This village has been continually lived in since this date and in the 1970's the Prince of Wales visited to unveil a plaque to mark the renovation of this group of buildings that embody the sense of community across south Wales. A visit to the area now lets you see the unusual architecture (including very wide eaves to help project the walls from the extreme weather), the pub that dates back to the 1830's and one of the smallest churches in Wales, which was actually created out of a stable block!!
