Originally a coaching inn dating back to 1695, the Castle Hotel is a delightful retreat located in the heart of Neath.
The Castle Hotel has a long association with rugby in Wales, not least because the inaugural meeting of the Welsh Rugby Union took place here on 12th March 1881, and Neath is home to Wales’ oldest rugby club, founded in 1871.

The actual inauguration was held in our oak panelled Centenary room where the walls are adorned with the shields of the 11 original founding members. Strangely enough, Neath itself was not an original member, even though it boasts the oldest rugby club in Wales.
