Literature Competition 2009
To commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the publication of Alexander Cordell’s international best seller – Rape of the Fair Country – the annual Alexander Cordell Literature Competition asked writers to create a travel story to inspire people to visit this special part of Wales - a story about people and places celebrating history and culture.

The winning short story, "A Ramble through Cordell Country" told the story of a granddad and grandson exploring the area around Blaenavon, and the award was presented to author Patricia Davies at the Cordell Festival in Blaenavon Ironworks by Roy Noble, a fan of Cordells work.
