This tour uncovers locations which feature in Cordell's epic story of the coal mining valleys of South Wales - This Sweet & Bitter Earth - where Toby Davies gets caught up in the Tonypandy Riots of 1910 and the police occupation of the Rhondda Valley, as well as the tragic Senghenydd Colliery explosion of 1913.
"Of all the valleys, this, I thought, was surely Welsh best. Where exists such loveliness as my Rhondda in springtime? The mountains are sylvan here, the country gold .... the rivers milk, the sky honey. God knows why exile Welshmen search the ends of the earth when Heaven is on their doorstep."
