Originally from a small village outside Denbigh in North Wales and a native Welsh speaker, I am a retired teacher very interested in local history especially the growth and eventual demise of the iron industry in the Heads of the Valley region during the 18th and 19th century. I am heavily involved in the local culture; currently the President of the Nant y Glo and Blaina Charter Group (who are striving to set up a museum to the Chartist Movement), Secretary of the Brynmawr Historical Society, Vice Chairman of the Blaenau Gwent Heritage Forum and a previous chairman of Brynmawr Museum. I have recently done some research into Chartist activity in the Blaenafon.
I am passionate about the stories of Wales and would love to take you on a tour of this area.
