Literature Competition 2007

A locally born musician Dawson Smith has written a number of folk songs, inspired by Cordell's novels, which have been launched as the Cordell Collection. One of these compositions "From Green to Black & Back Again", inspired the 2007 Literature Competition.

Entrants were asked to create a short story capturing the changing environment of the South Wales Valleys.

The winning entry by Mair De-Gare Pitt captures the current beauty of the area in the closing line "And over the mountains, green as ever, Gwen saw a pair of Red Kites soaring."
